  What is Your Favorite WT Lie?

  i would like to start a thread on lies that the watchtower and their reps have told.

  surely we all have one or two that truly sticks out in our memories, no matter how much we would like to forget.

  my favorite wt lie: the reason they don't want to release the name of the "scholars" who worked on the new world translation is because they do not want to accept "glory and honor" from others.

  What happened among the Governing Body that they made a 360 degrees turn in less than two years.

  Math happened. They hammered that scripture that says that a generation is 70 - 80 yrs. over and over that they felt they had to address it. 80 yrs. had expired only 11 months earlier. What was their way to addres it? Just change it with no explanation.... like no one was going to notice.

  A lot of people left the WT after this, but not nearly enough. The majority gave them a pass.

  The chart is only needed to present the biblical view. Whether you accept this or not is another matter. The biblical view is consistent, logical and non-contradictory. Therefore, it could be true. It doesn't negate itself, so that is one hurdle.

  Many beliefs can't even pass the consistency test.

  A child cannot be their own parent.

  Apparently he can in this case. My chart above perfectly expalins it.

  That's why he is called "only begotten". It was a one-time deal where The Son of God was permanently fused to the body and soul of the son of a beautiful little peasant girl in a far-flung remote province of the Roman empire.

  My mother, a very sweet, fun and loving woman was baptized as a JW in 1942 at nine years old. She was already a 3rd generation Jehovah's Witness by that time.

  When the Masthead changed in the Awake Magazine in the Nov. 8, 1995, I became really angry because this false "generation" prophecy was pushed on my mother as secure unrefutable fact since she was a little girl. I must admit, I felt sorry and empathy for my aged mother because of what this meant to her, BEFORE I ever felt personal rage at them wasting 32 years of my own life.

  So, I agree with others that the 1975 lie has to be one of the nastiest most putrid lie they ever uttered. They went big with this one. They pounded it into people's heads over, and over, and over until it whipped many into a frenzy to sell their home and pioneer (even though they had 5 kids - my uncle), only to die an alcoholic years later.

  So, this one is worth saving for posterity:

  why is it necessary to believe or reject the Trinity

  Well for one thing, without divinity, Jesus would have been a liar when he said that he would resurrect himself from the dead. I face plenty of liars in my line of work; don't need another one in my life.

  In John 2:19 Jesus predicts that He will raise Himself from the dead (see also John 10:18)

  A man who was known even by his enemies as a worker of miracles, said that he woud die as a substitute (scape goat) for the sins of the world. Then, after three days in a tomb, he would resurrect himself from the dead. Only God could do such a thing.

  Then, he did it. This is how Christianity got started. And because of this utterly stupendous event, it then spread like wildfire, eventually conquoring the greatest empire the world had ever known, without ever lifting a single weapon.

  "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory". - 1 Tim. 3: 16 KJV

  If Jesus isn't "God manifest in the flesh" he could not have resurrected himself from the dead and the whole thing is a hoax, and Jesus is a liar and the worst of the worst charlatans.

  Heretics are the only ones who reject the triune nature of God. The reason JW's have such a hard time with it is because they deny the tri-partite nature of man. Despite the fact that in the bible "spirit" and "soul" of man is referred to using pronouns, which shows personhood - such as he, her, them, they... JW's HERETICALLY claim that they are inanimate like electricity, or an attitude.

  JW's believe like materialists do when it suits them.

  Jesus was a man just like anyone else here with a body, soul, and spirit. That is why he is FULLY MAN. Also, his Spirit shares the indivisable essence of God, the SPIRIT who begot him, which makes him FULLY GOD. It's pretty easy to figure out if you just use the definitions that the Bible supplys and don't try to make up your own.
